Frequently asked questions.

Can I select my own repair shop or do I have to go to the body shop my insurance chooses?

Absolutely not! In the state of Pennsylvania you have the right to take your vehicle to the repair shop of your choosing. Barton’s Body Shop works with all insurance companies, and customers paying out-of-pocket, to repair your vehicle back to industry standards.

Will the insurance company pay for my rental car?

This questions depends on a couple of factors. If you are the claimant on an insurance claim, the insurance company should offer a rental to you while your car is being repaired. This also is dependent on the coverage the other driver has.

If you are the insured, you will need to have rental on your policy for the insurance company to cover this cost during repairs. We here at Barton’s highly recommend adding rental to your policy. A small charge per year can cover a BIG expense if you are in an accident.

What is a deductible?

A deductible is the amount you are responsible for, per your insurance policy. Deductibles can range from $100 to $2000 and everywhere in-between. Make sure to choose a deductible that is suitable to your financial means, for this amount will be owed at the end of the repairs at pick up.

What is the difference between Liability, Collision, and Comprehensive coverages?

Liability coverage helps pay for other people’s expenses if you cause an accident. That means their car repairs, medical bills, or even legal fees—but it won’t cover damage to your own car.

Collision coverage is what takes care of your car if it’s damaged in a crash, whether you hit another vehicle, a pole, or even roll over.

Comprehensive coverage protects your car from things that aren’t accident-related, like theft, vandalism, fire, storms, falling branches, or hitting an animal. A simple way to think about it is: liability covers others, collision covers your car if you hit something, and comprehensive covers your car if something else hits it.
